Rotterdam -
Recently al lot of Polish people started populating the Tarwewijk. In the evening the quarter fills up with cars carrying Polish numberplates. They do not work in Rotterdam but travel to wherever the work is. Most of them find work on buildingsites or in the glasshouses where vegetables and flowers are produced. Now the European borders open up for Bulgarians and Rumanians these people chose the Tarwewijk as THE place to go as well. They can travel freely in Europe but they are not allowed to work or rent/buy a house not having a passport from the Netherlands. So this group is easily exploited by smart house owners who rent out matrasses per hour for people to sleep, eight people in a room.
