Sao Paulo -
There are great public spaces designed by architects that work really well like Lina Bo Bardi’s sports and culture building Sesci Pompei and Centre Cultural. The climate allows a lot of homelike activities outdoors. Here in Sao Paulo again there is a lot of sleeping in public spaces. In a wide variety between heavenly surrendering in siesta sleep in well designed public spaces and the comatose sleep of homeless children on the doorstep of a citybank. In public sitting rooms like the terrace of a bar at night or on people’s own doorstep people lumber. You find yourself in the pace of a small town. There is less life in public space though as there is in Lagos Nigeria. Small houses disappear and new flat buildings are taking their place. These building exclude themselves from public space by fences and wallsNew finds: the public telephone book inside the public telephone the Orelhão (big ear): ladies ( or transvestites) offering their sex services. Compare the public telephone book In Lagos. The mobile slum: on a cart as big as a dust cart people transport whole houses: matrasses, chairs, kitchen equipment. To be build up in another part of town very night .
