PCC street

Sao Paulo -  Do not take pictures here, Sergio the Catadore warned me. The PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital) began as a prisoners union to defend inmate rights. But now it is a gang that rules over parts of the city. This is how they show that the police cannot come here in this street. The PCC fought the police so severely a few years ago that everybody in Sao Paulo stayed indoors for two days. Comment posted by Ze Barretta: ‘there is also a movie about that episode called, in Portuguese, ‘o dia que são paulo parou’. It was in 2006 and the city really stopped at 2 p.m.
