Sao Paulo -
I first took the picture. Then I tried to talk with them. Once more, they didn’t want to talk. When they saw me with the camera they quicly went inside the store. The immigrants are not in a good situation here in Sao Paulo. It is a new situation. They have just moved to this neighborhood. The two people we can see in this picture are probably Bolivians that changed from employees to employer in the sewing market, what is good. But still new. They don’t like interviews.
Bom Retiro was a neighborhood where the jews used to live and work until the late twentieth century. They made a lot of money here and then many went away. Koreans came to work with sewing studios and employed Bolivians. Today we see very few Jews in this neighborhood, many Koreans and some Bolivians.
