Rotterdam -
For what reasons do people leave the house/the city/the country they live in? And why do they choose The Tarwewijk as a quarter to live in? One of the explanations is that houses are extremely chep here. This house with four rooms ( I think) you can buy and it will cost you only €300,- a month. Students rent one room of 3x4 m for over € 400,- in the main student cities.here you can buy a house for € 80.000,- that would cost €200.000 to € 300.000 in any other part of Rotterdam or elsewhere. The Tarwewijk is so notorious for being a no go area that the prices of houses drop dramatically. The city has build a lot of new houses and renovated old ones. At a first sight he streets do look quite like posh district. The bad name is stronger. It attracts a lot of newcomers. It os known in the world that if you want to start in the Netherlands this is the place to go.
