Dhaka -
Walking along the ‘Beribandh’ or the city embankment is an experience to see many things such as tanneries, slums, motor-workshops, waste-recycling shops, expansion of the city etc. What welcome you are the dusty air and stance of polluted water of the river. Old city-trotting buses are left to paint newly. During government’s crackdown on 20-25 old vehicles, most of the old buses are taken to outside of Dhaka and left for few months. They get new paint and overhauled engine to look ‘okayish’ to run in the city streets again. Nothing seems to be left to rot in Bangladesh; we have a habit to repair and reuse everything possible.
