Dhaka -
A few things I feel changed since I visited Dhaka in 2008. One of them is the amount of women covering their faces has increased. Here you see the three stages of the niqap: none/one made up by the colorful and traditional Bangla scarf and one in black. The mothers are waiting for their children at the entrance of The Islamic School Samawaat, an English Middle School.
The advantage of a niqap is that it protects against the polluted air. Visiting a shelter for sex workers, I was told these women tend to cover their faces not to be recognized at daytime.
