Non Stop’ is the central notion to the userscript of Asira ash Shamaliya. It is a constant moving back and forth between past, present and future.
You cannot forget about the past. The Nakbah, the catastrophe when the Palestinians lost their land 60 years ago. Ancient buildings show a lot of history of habitation. The thousand year old olive trees form a main income to the village.
In the present ’the open wounds’ of the occupation are to be seen everywhere. A demolished house, the rationing of water. There is liveliness around in the hood. Elder men walking up and down the streets having a chat, women popping their heads out of the window who invite you for a tea.
The future is present in buildings under construction signed with the name of the future inhabitant. Real estate is booming. Old and young carry smart phones and have Skype and Facebook accounts to connect to their family in the diaspora.
The past, present and the future all exist simultaneously. Nonstop.
